Here at Statusphere HQ, a new semester means new ideas, new launches and of course, new interns! We wouldn’t be able to do what we do without the support of our amazing team. That’s why we’re so excited to welcome five new interns, each one bringing unique talents and experience from all over. (Virtually, of course!) We can’t wait to see the incredible value they bring to the company to help maximize the experience for both brands and influencers alike. Read on for our Summer 2020 New Intern Spotlight:

Sofi Shirey

Sales Development Intern

Major: Marketing

Minor: Psychology

 

We're so happy to welcome Sofi to the sales team! She will be tasked with finding new brands to pitch so our StatusBox is always stocked with the latest and greatest products for our influencers. We can't wait to see the incredible brands to come! 

 

Q: What are you most excited about for your new role?

A: To make new friends & learn more about influencer marketing!

 

Q: What is your dream company to work for?

A: Universal

 

Q: What is one thing you can’t live without?

A: My record player, as I’m obsessed with all of my records from my parents & grandparents!

 

Q: What is your favorite candy? 

A: Kit Kat’s

 

Q: Describe what you want to experience in the next year, only using emojis:

A: 🤓🕺✍️🕶🌞🏄‍♀️

 

Q: What’s your favorite social media platform, and why?

A: Twitter, hands down the.best.content.

 

Q: What do you want to do when you grow up? ;)

A: Anything marketing-related, I’d even love to own my own business like a restaurant or something too!

 

Q: What do you want to learn more from in your new role?

A: The importance of sales and brand relations within a company.

 

Q: What’s an interesting fact about you that most people might not know?

A: So far I’ve binge-watched 5 seasons of GOT in 2 weeks

Chelsea Velez

Copywriting Intern

Major: Journalism

Q: What are you most excited about for your new role?

A: To develop more creativity and diversity with what is written on the Statusphere blog. I am ecstatic to learn more and to develop more skills.

 

Q: What is your dream company to work for?

A: Honestly, I’m unsure. Lately, I have been thinking of developing my own company. Something geared more toward soft news but still relating to my journalism degree.


Q: What is one thing you can’t live without?

A: I would not be able to live without the people I care about.

 

Q: What is your favorite candy? 

A: Dark chocolate

 

Q: Describe what you want to experience in the next year, only using emojis:

A: 🤗🤩🥰❤️

 

Q: What’s your favorite social media platform, and why?

A: My favorite social media platform is Snapchat. I find it to give me connectivity but in a selective way that is more close to home.

 

Q: What do you want to do when you grow up? ;)

A: I would like to become a successful journalist, author, and professor

 

Q: What do you want to learn more from in your new role?

A: I would love to learn new ways to engage and curate blog pieces for the audiences on the site, as well as, attracting new people that want to get involved with Statusphere and much more!

 

Q: What’s an interesting fact about you that most people might not know?

A: At the age of four, I fell down an escalator that was going up because my sandal got stuck. I rolled into a ball like Sonic the Hedgehog and someone hit the emergency button. My mom will forever be scarred haha.

Annie Lovelock

Influencer Relations/Social Media Intern

Majors: Advertising-Public Relations & Theatre Studies

 

We’re happy to have Annie tag-teaming between the social and influencer relations departments! She will be helping the social team keep our feeds filled with new and creative ideas - so be sure you're following along! When Annie's not working on the grid, she will be helping the influencer relations team grow and maintain its network of content creators. 

 

Q: What are you most excited about for your new role?

A: Learning new and interesting ways of using social media to reach different audiences.

 

Q: What is your dream company to work for? 

A: Somewhere in entertainment or beauty (Disney? Glossier? Whoever offers a living wage?)

 

Q: What is one thing you can’t live without? 

A: Lush Sleepy Body Lotion

 

Q: What is your favorite candy? 

A: Reese’s Cups

 

Q: Describe what you want to experience in the next year, only using emojis: 

A: 💕⛰️🎭💃💰

 

Q: What’s your favorite social media platform, and why? 

A: TikTok; it never gets boring and there’s literally always new content catered specifically to what I think is interesting

 

Q: What do you want to do when you grow up? ;) 

A: Art/Creative Director (something fun!)

 

Q: What do you want to learn more about in your new role? 

A:  How a team functions in marketing-- most of my past roles have been at orgs with 2-3 people max, so having such a big group will be a neat change.

 

Q: What’s an interesting fact about you that most people might not know? 

A: I got picked to audition for College Jeopardy. Didn’t get in. But I tried!

Sami Gomez

Brand Relations Intern

Major: Advertising-Public Relations

 

We’re happy to have Sami rejoin us for another semester! She will be helping design promotional material to support the marketing department and organization as a whole. You can count on her to add an elegant flair to the latest case study or brand report.   

 

Q: What are you most excited about for your new role?

A: To gain more experience when it comes to the branding side of Statusphere. I want to leave this internship feeling more confident with creating company decks and marketing materials.

 

Q: What is your dream company to work for? 

A: Sephora

 

Q: What is one thing you can’t live without? 

A: My computer and coffee!

 

Q: What is your favorite candy? 

A: Gummies

 

Q: Describe what you want to experience in the next year, only using emojis:

Q: What’s your favorite social media platform, and why? 

A: Instagram! I get so much design inspiration from there and can connect with other designers.

 

Q: What do you want to do when you grow up? ;) 

A: Creative director at a cosmetic company

 

Q: What do you want to learn more from in your new role?

A: I want to learn more about what works best when you are signing a brand onto Statusphere. What components do you make sure are on the marketing materials that you present to them that will seal the deal for them to sign?

 

Q: What’s an interesting fact about you that most people might not know? 

A: I freelance for different companies!

Rayna van Beuzekom

Account Management Intern

Major: Public Relations

 

We’re so excited to welcome Rayna to the account management team! She will be supporting our account managers and getting a taste for what client relations looks like. Smooth sailing throughout brand campaigns will be her goal!

 

Q: What are you most excited about for your new role?

A: Learning strategy and understanding analytics

 

Q: What is your dream company to work for? 

A: Agency- Golin, Brand- Vans

 

Q: What is one thing you can’t live without? 

A: Going outside

 

Q: What is your favorite candy? 

A: Dark chocolate

 

Q: Describe what you want to experience in the next year, only using emojis: 

A: ✈️🚲🏖🗻🌄🛹

 

Q: What’s your favorite social media platform, and why? 

A: Instagram because I love to edit photos and practice matching it to my feed. I also think the type of content you can post is very versatile. For instance, the content can be images, videos or even gifs. 

 

Q: What do you want to do when you grow up? ;) 

A: I would love to work in corporate PR and eventually earn a c-suite position. 

 

Q: What do you want to learn more about at your internship? 

A: I want to learn more about communications with clients and how to create stronger relationships that result in retention. This includes how we gather and present information as well as the way we speak about Statusphere.

 

Q: What’s an interesting fact about you that most people might not know? 

A: I was an “influencer” from 8th-10th grade for goalkeeper equipment with over 25,000 followers. I had products sent to me almost every week to test, review and create content for. My main selling point was being a female in a predominantly male market.  I honestly had no idea what I was doing but it was the beginning of my interest in social media and working with brands.
